Sage robotics

FTC robotics is real-world engineering. You'll be working in a "do and learn whatever it takes to make it work" environment. You'll learn mechanical techniques, control systems, computer vision, computer programming, fabrication, and project management. Companies and universities recruit FTC competitors because they know they've invented, collaborated, and delivered.

 FTC robotics is a sport. There's a season, a team, a scoreboard, championships, and community.

FTC robotics is coopertition. Teams show up to win and to support each other. Last year we broke a wheel at a meet, and a competing team loaned us a full set for the rest of the competition. This is normal in the FTC community.

Most FTC teams split into a build group and a programming group. Not at Sage Robotics.

Each subsystem of the robot is owned by one or two people, start to finish. You design it, build it, program it, drive it, and fix it between matches. Nothing gets handed off.

Only have some of the skills? You'll learn the rest by partnering with someone with complementary skills.

Cost. We are a well-sponsored team—equipment, tools, and registration costs are covered at no charge to the team members. Ideally, team members bring their own laptops and their families help with team travel, but don't let these expenses stop you from contacting us.

Location. We meet in a fully-equipped robotics shop in Selah.

Time committment. The time committment is similar to participating in a school sport. The team meets twice a week plus team members spend additional time designing, building, testing, or coding their sub-system.

Who are the founders? Our two founding team members are in 12th and 9th grade and are experienced FTC competitors strong in CAD, 3D printing, computer science, and physical design. Our lead coach is an experienced FTC mentor with a graduate degree in Computer Science.

Youth Safety. All adults working with the team (coaches, mentors, parents) are trained and certified through FIRST's Youth Protection Program.
